Welcome to the Planning Department

Riverside County, like a quilt, is a composite of differing lifestyles connected together through common strands. The County's General Plan is designed to ensure that the quilt retains its core identity by guiding future growth that respects the diversity of the region, shapes and configures development in relation to the land it occupies and ensures that its various parts relate to its whole.

It is the goal of the Planning Department to provide timely, responsive and helpful service to all members of the public and promote innovative development that effectively accommodates a balance of housing, employment, and service opportunities.

Temecula Valley Wine Country Community Meeting

Last updated: March 15, 2010

The Riverside County Planning Department has scheduled a community meeting regarding a proposal by the County to consider whether to establish a historic preservation district in Idyllwild’s commercial core area. This meeting will be held on Thursday, March 18, 2010, from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m., at the Town Hall, located at 25925 Cedar Street, in Idyllwild. As of this writing (March 15, 2010), the weather forecast for the night of this community meeting is very favorable, with no snow or rain expected. Therefore, hereby, this is confirmation that the meeting will definitely take place that night [and not on any of the other three nights (March 25th, March 31th, or April 8th, 2010] previously under consideration for the meeting, as “backup dates” in case the weather turned inclement on March 18th.

All property owners, residents, and other persons interested in Idyllwild are invited to this meeting, where you will learn about a Historic Resources Survey that was prepared for Idyllwild’s commercial core area, the potential for the establishment of a Historic Preservation District there, and to ask questions about and discuss the Historic Resources Survey, the potential implications of a Historic Preservation District designation, and other matters important for both the protection of Idyllwild’s unique, historical character and the continued protection and enhancement of the viability of businesses in Idyllwild’s commercial core area.

To view the Historic Resources Survey and associated documents, please use the link provided for previously posted information at the bottom of this section. To view a map showing the boundaries of the potential historic preservation district, please click here.
